At Sunburst Yoga, we are devoted to encouraging children to be all that they can be in mind, body and spirit. We believe that exposure to Yoga at an early age begins to set the foundation for balanced development that will last a lifetime. Yoga is a wonderful way for children to build self-esteem and confidence, enhance body awareness, increase strength and flexibility and develop tools to manage stress. Our classes utilize a variety of activities such as stories, games, books, music and crafts to teach children not only Yoga poses and relaxation techniques, but also basic Yoga philosophy including the yamas and niyamas. These concepts, such as kindness, honesty, responsibility, integrity, gratitude and cooperation are taught in a kid-friendly way, often incorporating children’s books to reinforce these important character traits.
In addition to offering Yoga classes, we are committed to becoming a community resource for families and individuals to begin to incorporate Yoga into their daily lives. We love to share simple ideas for activities, crafts, and books that can improve the well-being of kids (of any age!)
